Course Description:

This is an intermediate-level 45 minute training overview of regulations and procedures associated with evidentiary control measures taken when shipping clinical specimens to Kansas Department of Health and Environmental Laboratories after a known or unknown chemical exposure even has occurred. This course offered to ensure all laboratory staff across Kansas receives the full training needed to fully support their responsibilities as sentinel laboratory staff members. (reviewed 8/3/15)

IMPORTANT:  To participate in this training, learners must participate and pass a preliminary packaging and shipping class that covers Class 6.2 Infectious substances, and Class 9 Miscellaneous hazardous materials, dry ice. The recommended prerequisite for this training course is: Packaging and Shipping Division 6.2 Materials: What the Laboratorian Should Know - 2016, course ID# 1062513, offered through the CDC and available on KS-TRAIN.  If you have completed a preliminary packaging and shipping class as stated above through some other means than the CDC course please contact AJ Wolfe, 785-296-7006 for permission to complete the Evidence Control Measures course.

At the conclusion of this training learners will be able to: 
- Define the Chemical Laboratory Response Network
- Execute how to properly package and ship clinical specimens collected from patients following the release of a known or unknown chemical agent
- Describe evidence control measures in relation to packaging and shipping
- Recognize how to complete a chain-of-custody form
